                      MINUTES OF THE CALLED SESSION OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF EAGLEVILLE, TENNESSEE
                                     July 2, 2009   7:00 PM


            The Mayor and City Council members met in a called session in the Eagleville City Hall, City of Eagleville, Rutherford County, Tennessee on July 2, 2009 at 7:00 pm with Mayor Sam Tune presiding.

ROLL CALL 

            Roll was called by City Recorder, Colleen Adams.  All members were present, with the exception of Councilman Alan Ball.


 

CALL TO ORDER

            Mayor Tune called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone to the meeting. 


 

ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

            Councilman Wes Fitzgerald made a motion to adopt the agenda, with Councilman Darin Rowell seconding.  After a roll call was taken by City Recorder Colleen Adams, the motion was approved 5-0.


 

BUSINESS


 

CITY ATTORNEY

            Mayor Tune stated to the Council that City Attorney Adam Dodd had resigned effective immediately.  A motion was made by Councilman Wes Fitzgerald to accept the resignation, and was seconded by Councilman Darin Rowell.  After a vote taken by City Recorder Colleen Adams, the motion passed 5-0.


 

            Mayor Tune addressed the Council, and stated he had a recommendation for a new City Attorney, Mr. Leon Sharber.  Mayor Tune stated that Mr. Sharber has agreed to attend every meeting, and if he is not able to make it has agreed to have representation here or will let the City know when he will not make it.  He also stated that Mr. Sharber has agreed to do all City business, such as write letters and make phone calls, and may charge extra for additional work.  He explained Mr. Sharber has been practicing law for 30+ years and gave a description of his qualifications.   Councilwoman Jensen asked to see Mr. Sharber's resume, and for a detailed list of expectations of the City.  After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Wes Fitzgerald, and seconded by Darin Rowell to hire Mr. Sharber at $550.00 per month, with a 12 month contract, a 90 day probationary period and with the understanding Mr. Sharber is to provide to the Mayor and City Council with a contract stating the expectations and fees.  After a vote taken by City Recorder Colleen Adams, the motion passed 5-1 (Councilman Ball passed, stating he arrived late and missed discussions).          

                         


 

ADJOURNMENT

            Mayor Tune stated a motion was in order to adjourn, and the meeting ended at 6:25 pm by unanimous vote.
