SEWER UPDATE
Mayor Tune reported
that the city was still working on getting the needed surveys sent out by GNRC, turned back into them. $1.6 million in grant
money is still possible through a USDA Rural Development grant.
Councilman David Rigsby inquired if anything had been signed that would obligate the city to pay any money, regarding the
pending sewer system and if there was any idea of the cost to individuals on the sewer system. Mayor Tune again reaffirmed
that the city has not agreed to pay SEC or anyone else; one penny - unless, we get funding for the sewer. He further stated
that we would not be as far along on the sewer project if SEC had not made such agreement with the city.
MAYOR'S CLOSING REMARKS
Mayor Tune reported that the city should close on the purchase of the Log Cabin Building, along with the land adjoining the
current City Hall property, on April 1st, 2011.
The city is currently working on getting estimates for paving, carpenter work and flooring for the finishing out of the building.
Permission was obtained from current owner, Doyle Woods, to
do a soil study. The study concluded that each building will be able to have separate septic systems.
The goal is to hopefully be in the New City Hall building by June and to host
the Main Street Festival from the porch of the new property.
