Pursuant to the provisions of Tennessee Code Annotated, § 6‑19‑101
(15) and (27) there is hereby created a municipal recreation, beautification and
history board, hereinafter referred to as the board of recreation,
beautification and history. The
board shall consist of five (5) members. Four
of these members shall be appointed by the city council from the citizens of the
Town. One member shall be appointed
from the city council by the city council.
Terms of the members shall be for four (4) years, arranged in such a way
as to allow for two members' terms to expire every year.
The board shall elect a chairperson from their number to serve for one
year.
2‑102. Time devoted to duties.
The members of the board of recreation, beautification and history shall
devote such time and attention to the duties of their office as the efficient
performance thereof may demand and require, and their services shall be without
compensation.
2‑103.
Duties
and responsibilities.
The board of recreation, beautification and history shall recommend to
the city council the acquisition or sale of lands needed for park purposes or
for protection as historically significant. The board shall recommend to the
city council the policies of the recreation program, the beautification program
and the historical preservation and recognition program for the Town of
Eagleville and shall assume all other duties and responsibilities the city
council may confer upon said board by resolution or ordinance.
2‑104.
Time
and place of meetings.
The board of recreation, beautification and history
shall meet when the chairperson, or city council, feels sufficient
business is in existence to justify such a meeting.
An organizational meeting shall be held each Spring to elect a
chairperson for the coming year. It
shall be the duty of the mayor to cause notice to be served on each member
notifying him of the time, place, and purpose of each meeting called.
